Projects

Remember, projects can vary depending on the scale, complexity and budget, as well as the preferences of the architect and client. Communication, collaboration, and attention to detail are crucial throughout the entire process to ensure success.

530 Rock Ridge Road, Palmer Lake, CO

Perched gracefully near the Limbough Canyon Trailhead adjacent to the majestic Pike National Forest, this exceptional project capitalized on a wonderfully sloping site to unlock breathtaking northern vistas. The clients envisioned a modern dwelling that resonated with its dramatic mountain setting, integrating with the surrounding forest without feeling artificial or imposed. The resulting residence stands as a testament to harmonious design, thoughtfully composed to frame spectacular views of the encompassing forest and distant peaks from every vantage point, both within its inviting interiors and across its carefully considered
outdoor spaces. Integral to the programming and design was the desire to incorporate a dedicated lower-level Airbnb unit, affectionately named "Mod Lodge Palmer Lake." This self-contained space offers guests a unique opportunity to experience modern mountain living while providing the homeowners with a flexible income stream. The design ensures both privacy and a distinct sense of place for both the main residence and the guest suite, all while celebrating the unparalleled beauty of its Limbough Canyon setting.

5053 S. Zang, Morrison, CO

The inherent charm of this 1975 split-level, situated on a quiet cul-de-sac mere moments from the Morrison foothills, was undeniable. However, its original layout proved insufficient for a vibrant family of four seeking expanded main floor living. Our commission was to not only add vital square footage but also to reimagine the spatial dynamics, cultivating an open and connected environment. The resulting addition is a striking study in thoughtful expansion, meticulously designed to evoke a profound sense of openness without overwhelming the home's original scale. A key design element, the dramatic vaulted ceiling, serves as a powerful vertical anchor, guiding the eye towards an expansive glazing system. These carefully placed windows are more than mere openings; they are deliberate invitations for abundant natural light and the majestic Colorado landscape to permeate the interior. This interplay of light and views is further enhanced by generous patio doors, creating a dynamic and fluid relationship between the indoor living areas and the outdoor environment. Crucially, the addition was conceived with an unwavering commitment to integration, flowing organically into the existing kitchen and feeling as if it were an original, indispensable component of the home's architectural narrative.

3803 Wright Street

This project involved a comprehensive renovation and expansion of an existing

single-family brick ranch home, breathing new life into its traditional form with a distinctly modern aesthetic. The design focused on maximizing usable space, enhancing views, and creating seamless indoor-outdoor connections for a growing family. The transformation began with a strategic addition of 660 square feet to the main level, carefully integrated to maintain a cohesive flow with the original structure. Above this new footprint, an 820-square-foot second story was added, dramatically altering the home’s profile and unlocking panoramic westerly views of the Front Range mountains. Internally, the main entry was reimagined to create a welcoming and contemporary arrival experience. The heart of the home, the kitchen, was entirely redesigned and opened to a soaring two-story volume, fostering a dramatic sense of space and connection to the new second floor. The existing attached garage underwent a partial conversion to living space, thoughtfully balanced with an increase in the overall garage footprint to ensure continued functionality. This adaptation provided valuable additional living area while preserving essential storage and parking.

Through a thoughtful blend of modern design principles and respect for the original structure, this project successfully transformed a modest brick ranch into a spacious, light-filled, and contemporary home that embraces its surroundings and caters to the lifestyle of its inhabitants. The careful consideration of spatial relationships, material choices, and outdoor connections has resulted in a truly revitalized property.
